"Keep
Reading "
|
Suggested Bible Reading:
Psalm 119:9-16
Scripture Text: "These were more fair-minded
than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with
all readiness, and searched the Scriptures daily to find out whether
these things were so." Acts 17:11 NKJ
My friend’s new job with an insurance company required
her to understand the policies. She continued reading even though
it seemed like gibberish. “I don’t understand most
of what I’m reading, but if I keep at it, when I reread
it I’ll have more information and understand it better each
time through.” That’s what she did and passed the
training exam with an excellent score.
Reading God’s word is similar. At first it is difficult
to comprehend, but the more it is read, the more enjoyable and
understandable it is. As Christians we have an advantage, the
Holy Spirit helps us.
Gertrude Evans, my grandmother, has been hearing or reading the
Bible for 99 years. She still delights in learning and gaining
insight each time she reads God’s word.
Prayer: Father, thank You for Your written word.
Please make Your truth clearer.
Thought: Repetition is the key to learning.
Prayer for the day: Lord, help me take more time
to read my Bible.
